Hey folks, ​ ​ Just stumbled upon this section and I'm loving the information being shared around, so thank you to everyone contributing! ​ Myself and my brother want to start on the new classic server opening up on the 3rd October and we were thinking of playing summoners. We have played L2 in C2->Interlude and kind of dropped off after later updates as we no longer enjoyed the 'feeling'.

Long story short: for us its about the journey, so we wont be speed leveling ( if that's even possible here ) or trying to find the best possible duo to use. ​ That said, we thought of playing summoners as on a a grindy server using the summon as opposed to having to get top gear makes sense - We chose to try PS and WC.

​ Will beast shots be part of the launch? If not, are the summons still competitive for PVE ( and the occasional PVP )? Will party buffs be applied to summons as well ( songs/dances/chants )? If not, are the summons still competitive for PVE ( and the occasional PVP ) they won't be on launch (or at least, they weren't in 1.5 so you probably shouldnt expect it unless its a random change they make), and the general answer for pvp is that you'll be fairly weak. The summons will get some things done because of the land rate of spark cubic but in open pvp your summon doesn't do much damage and summons in classic are typically very glitchy in that they will refuse to actually attack a moving target for the most part. More or less, your summon won't get too too much done. On the bright side, your lvl 35 nuke twister won't actually fail the majority of the time, so it can get some damage done while people are stunned by your cubic. For PVE the phantom summoner isn't the greatest in 1.5, but you can still gear it out for melee and do just fine. The reality for all summoners is that they get a huge buff in the next patch (2.0) which gives them beast soulshots and an extremely hard hitting summon at lvl 77.
