Hi, I'm new to the board, just wondering what everyone thinks of this edition? It became the most popular version in 93 until capcom cracked down on it. Because it was a bootleg modification, but it was the best! It was the first turbo version of the championship edition where you could do multiple fireballs on the screen. You could do multiple fireballs in the air. You could actually keep jumping up until you re-enter the screen again.
If you pressed the start button you could change characters mid-game. Every character had a fireball. Chun-li did hers through her lightning kick, balrog through his punch, zangief through his spinning fist. Plus the fireballs moved in different directions, sometimes upwards.
Hurricane kicks went from one side of the screen to the other instantly. For characters like Guile and blanka, you didn't have to wait two seconds for the sonic boom or spinning attack, it was straight back and forth. With guile you could do twenty sonic booms in a couple of seconds. If they were light punch, they would be extremely slow, slow enough to walk though them yourself and have a protection around you. Its also know as the black-belt edition, and I've also heard it called the champion of championship edition. Anyone else like this baby?

Manufacturer: Hung Hsi Enterprise TAIWAN Conversion This was actually a blackmarket upgrade to Street Fighter II - Champion Edition. The upgrade was simply a set of ROMs, usually referred to as 'Rainbow' or 'Rainbow Edition' chips. This game is easily identified by the 'Rainbow' pattern through the 'STREET FIGHTER II' logo on the title screen. Game Introduction One of a couple of blackmarket upgrades which appeared during Street Fighter II - The World Warrior's peak. The upgrade allowed players to throw homing projectles, and switch characters in mid-round by pressing your start button (the change follows the order Ryu-E. Honda-Blanka-Guile-Ken-Chun Li-Zangief-Dhalsim-Balrog-Vega-Sagat-M.
Bison), and teleport to another side of the screen. Results may vary as this was a blackmarket upgrade. Miscellaneous I can only remember one other blackmarket upgrade by the name of Blackbelt Edition. Capcom eventually took legal action against the manufacturers of the product. One version of this story is that Capcom brought Hyper Fighting out after the lawsuit to satisfy the general public. Another version is that Capcom brought Hyper Fighting into the market so that they would have a better reason for taking legal action as they would then be considered a threat to their market. Either way, part of the reason Hyper Fighting exists is because of the appearance of these blackmarket upgrades.
It was a fun game to play if you were not serious about ture challenge, i sure had fun with it when i was younger ). Actually, just to clarify, Guile's 'handcuff' move was in the original Street Fighter II! Since it was removed from Champion Edition, I don't think it was actually in the Rainbow Edition. But I'm not 100% sure on that.
I used to do that to punks at arcades who would talk trash to everyone. But only to the punks! I did play Rainbow Edition quite a bit back in the day! It was so drastically different, and yet, still the same that it was AWESOME! I had more fun with this than I did with regular Turbo!
Guile was always my favorite, and he was pretty cheap in this version. I'm sure this is still out there SOMEWHERE, it's just a matter of knowing where to look. I'm going to start looking now! I remember playing the rainbow version, even though I didn't know it was called that at the time. I remember another bootleg based off this version where ryu/ken fireballs came out in pairs and moved in wavy patterns.
